Email Services
We do not set a limit on the number of email boxes or forwarders. This is only restricted by the amount of storage space and bandwidth that comes with your account. Suffice to say that you will be able to incorporate all the email services you'll need.
Each MHS-CPanel Account Includes The Following Email Services:
- Email Accounts - An email account is your email addresses such as yourname@yourdomain.com. You can set these up in your email software (Outlook, Eudora, etc) and can send, receive and reply to email from your personal computer. These are also known as POP accounts.
- EMail Alias - An email alias is a way of mapping an email address to a POP account.
For example, let's assume you have the email address support@yourdomain.com. You also want to receive email at sales@yourdomain.com within this same POP account. All you need to do is add sales@yourdomain.com as an email alias and all email directed to sales will be sent to you.
- Email Forwarding - Assume you wanted to forward all email sent to you under the POP account techsupport@yourdomain.com to username@someotherdomain.com. You simply need to add username@someotherdomain.com within the POP account techsupport@yourdomaim.com to the forwarders list and your all set.
- Mailing Lists - A mailing list provides a convenient way to send email to multiple recipients at once. Mailing lists can be used for many purposes - newsletter, support group, etc.
- Auto Responders - An auto responder allows you to send an email to a Website visitor automatically. This can be in HTML or plain text format. This is useful when you have standard files that provide important information that you wish to allow site visitors to view.
- Email Filtering - Allows you to filter out spam at the server level
- Spam Assassin - SpamAssassin is a mail filter to identify spam using text analysis and several internet-based realtime blacklists. Using its rule base, it uses a wide range of heuristic tests on mail headers and body text to identify ``spam'', also known as unsolicited commercial email. Once identified, the mail is then tagged as spam for later filtering using the user's own mail user-agent application.
- Spam Box - This feature allows emails identified as spam by SpamAssassin to be delivered to a seperate mail folder named "spam". If this folder is not regularly checked and emptied, it may cause your email or filesystem quotas to be exceeded, resulting in a failure to receive legitimate messages. You easily can use IMAP or Horde/IMP to check messages that are routed to this box. If you wish to use pop3 to check the spam box, just add "/spam" (without the quotes) to the end of your pop3 login. (Example: joe@i.com/spam)
This feature's use is generally discouraged in favor of sorting and deleting spam messages using your mail client. Without Spam Box you can configure SpamAssassin to mark your email with an identifying subject (e.g. ***SPAM***), which can then be filtered out into an appropriate location.
- BoxTrapper Spam Trap - Boxtrapper protects your inbox from spam by forcing all people not on your white list to reply to a verifcation email before they can send mail to you.
- Vacation Email - When you go on vacation or are not available to respond to email for an extended period of time you can engage the vacation email service.
