How the Failover Service WorksOffering your site visitors 24/7 availability is expected in today's competitive business environment. There will be a delay of approximately 3-5 minutes before your failover site takes over. Normally when a mail server is not available sent email will bounce back to the sender. With the MHS Mail Queue Service email is held on our mail servers until such time as the original server is back online. At that time all email is sent as normal. This prevents those dreaded bounce backs and the sender never knows that his/her email was not delivered.This service costs only $25 annually with a one-time $25 setup fee. How it WorksThe MHS backup mail services give you access to three emails servers for complete email redundancy. So you will have an extra three levels of MX records giving your domain three levels of MX priority.If your mail server cannot be reached then your email is then sent to the backup mail servers. Once it reaches the backup servers it sits in a queue and continually checks to see if your mail server is back online and is reachable. When your mail server is back online the queued mail is then delivered to your mail server. We will keep attempting to deliver mail to your server for 14 days! Of course, most downtimes usually last less than 30 minutes so you're well protected. QuotasOur standard backup mail service will hold up to 100,000 emails or 1GB - whichever occurs first.
